Dr. Duane R. Meighan

Dr. Duane R. Meighan is the Founder and Principal Consultant of The Main Learning Focus LLC (TMLF), an educational consulting firm dedicated to advancing student outcomes through strategic leadership, modernized learning environments, and systemwide innovation.
Dr. Meighan brings more than three decades of experience in teaching, school leadership, and executive leadership, including serving as a superintendent of schools. Throughout his career, he has served in leadership roles across five Illinois school systems, including high-performing districts such as Arlington Heights School District 25 and Oak Park School District 97. His experience spans classroom teaching, school administration, curriculum and instructional leadership, central-office administration, and executive district leadership.
As superintendent, Dr. Meighan led transformative efforts focused on academic achievement, teaching and learning, organizational improvement, school safety, facilities modernization, and community engagement. These efforts contributed to measurable academic gains, including schools advancing to higher performance levels on the Illinois State Report Card.
Today, through TMLF, Dr. Meighan consults independently and through four strategic partnerships supporting K–12 school systems in Illinois, Indiana, and across the country. His work includes partnerships in educational staffing, technology innovation, school safety and student well-being, and facility and capital modernization. These partnerships include Kreyco, a New Jersey-based educational staffing organization focused on placing qualified, in-person educators in schools; GreenBox Services, a California-based technology solutions provider; as well as strategic partnerships focused on school safety and large-scale facility, energy-efficiency, HVAC, and air-quality modernization.
Grounded in both practice and scholarship, Dr. Meighan’s work is also informed by his doctoral research on relational aggression (girl bullying) and its impact on student mental health. This area of expertise continues to shape his focus on school safety, student well-being, and creating learning environments where all students can thrive.
Dr. Meighan holds a Doctorate in Leadership and Administration from Aurora University and remains committed to helping educational organizations challenge the status quo, strengthen systems, and improve outcomes while staying focused on his guiding principle:

He is also a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. since 1989 and the proud father of three children—Duane Jr., Mya, and Angela.
